Friends of Itasca Annual Meeting Summary

On Saturday September 14, 2024 the Friends of Itasca State Park held their annual meeting at the Jacob Brower visitor center in Itasca State Park. Items of business included:

• The adoption of a Work Plan for 2025(pdf link)
• Election of two new Board Members, Kristi York and Monica Foster
• Report on the State of the Park by Aaron Wunrow, Park Manager
• Friends Activities for the past year
• Recognition of Tim Holzkamm for his many years of service and leadership on the Board of Directors of the Friends of Itasca.

Following the meeting Lee Frelich, Director of the University of Minnesota Center for Forest Ecology gave an intriguing and interesting presentation on “Climate Change and Minnesota Forests”

Raffle Winners

• First prize, the 2 1/2 HP outboard motor was won by Kristi York of Park Rapids.
• Second prize, the Pontoon Boat Ride was won by Laurie Wilson from Long Lost Lake.
• Third prize, the $250 State Park Gift Card was won by Denise Jokela of Park Rapids.
